Dirty Laundry

Q and I went to do laundry, like we have gotten used to doing together. He pretty much helps me with mine, I have yet to help him with his.

Since I’m always busy at work, painting or have some gig of one thing or another, we tend to make our time together whenever we can, doing whatever it is we are doing.

This particular day was one to remember. He’s helping me fold my “delicates” and comes across a black lingerie skin tight top looking thing and his reaction, priceless.

He breaks his neck to the side, with an eyebrow arched, and blankly stares at me with that smirk of his

“What the hell is this?”

I look at him, with a hidden smile and say “noooothing” and go to grab it out of his hands.

He pulls back and says “No, I’m keeping it!” and puts it inside his shirt!

I’m cracking up telling him to give me back my underwear and when he wasn’t looking, I snatched it away from him!

He looks at me in shock and starts laughing.

“Yo, I don’t care what you say, I’m keeping this”

“No your’e not!”

and chases me around the laundromat.

I’m cracking up and after about 2 minutes, he snatches it out of my hands and puts it his pants.

At this point everyone is already staring at us, we were super hella loud!

Our dryers have just finished and we go and grab the carts to unload all the clothes and we settled down at this point, when in comes in some chick wearing a fur vest, skin tight jeans and tall 6 inch heels with her boyfriend.

Where are you going homie? We’re in a laundromat in the hood.

Q and I just look at each other , same time and both gave each other a raise of an eyebrow and continued to fold our clothes. (yes, our clothes. Q has his own drawer in my apartment that seems to be over flowing)

We mind our own business, and continue to do what we came here to do until we notice the other couple  bickering back and forth.

All we hear is, “Well, do we need to separate the clothes? What about this, is this colored? Can we use this soap? I dont know, I’ve never done this before”

Q and I look at each other again and it’s like we shared one brain.

(Discovery Channel narrator voice) White rich kids who have been cut out from mommy and daddy’s trust fund go out into the wild for the first time. We watched as the pair looked around in confusion. How much soap would they use? Would they remove that red sock from their whites? We watched in amusement when they discovered where the quarters go, they asked us…

“Does the change dispenser take credit card?”

lol!  Let me stop being mean… we ended up giving them some laundry advice, Q looks at me and tells  me he loves us.

HIGH LINE WITH MR.MINX

Lately I’ve been telling myself that I need to take my camera with me EVERYWHERE and start taking random shots, capture the beautiful moments.

So what better day and excuse than to start off with my own Mr.Minx.

I wanted to surprise Q and go to the High Line, since he’s mentioned how much he loves it.

I the horrible New Yorker that I am have never been there. I read an article online once, how it was the  best place to go to if there was a zombie Apocalypse,

due to the fact that you can grow your own food and if the exits are gated it would be tougher for them to climb,

anyway, never mind my rambling about zombies, but I was sold! 

This day I told Q to meet me at work so I can take him on a little walk, not mentioning where we were headed.

As soon as we got off on 14th he guessed exactly where we were going.

What a buzzkill.

You suck Q.

He insisted on leading the way since he knew where he was at, and I had massive printout maps in my purse.

I pouted but let him do his work.

We headed to the Chelsea market, which I have never been to.

I know, I know… I need to get out more!

We had sushi, and Q the pro that he is, laughed at my lack of chopstick skills.

Can I get a fork please!

Our walk was cute, and much needed.

Lately, I’ve been stuck at work all the time, and I wanted to let him know I was thankful for his working around my hectic work schedule.

He’s a trooper and I’m so lucky.

Well… I hope you guys enjoy my pictures, since I finally got some decent shots and put my camera to use.

In an effort to provide abused children with a safe way to reach out for help, a Spanish organization called the Aid to Children and Adolescents at Risk Foundation, or ANAR for short, created an ad that displays a different message for adults and children at the same time.

The secret behind the ad’s wizardry is a lenticular top layer, which shows different images at varying angles. So when an adult—or anyone taller than four feet, five inches—looks at it they only see the image of a sad child and the message: “sometimes, child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it.” But when a child looks at the ad, they see bruises on the boy’s face and a different message: “if somebody hurts you, phone us and we’ll help you” alongside the foundation’s phone number.

The ad is designed to empower kids, particularly if their abuser happens to be standing right next to them. And while this is a great and worthwhile use of lenticular images, how long will it be before toy companies start doing to the same thing to hawk their products directly at kids?

On another note, literally , I was so happy to check  my mailbox to find that Diana wrote to me.

My dirty diana is officially in the army and I miss her so much, I’m so proud of her.

I wrote her a letter and drew something really simple to show her I’m thinking about her…. I can’t wait to hear from you babe!

Work This City Backyard Edition with Jaga

It was a long day. I had just left work which is shy about 20 minutes from Coney Island, hopped on the train and headed to the other side of the MTA map.

Gunhill in the Bronx to be exact.

I asked my loverboy Q to join me and watch, especially since he’s never really had the chance to observe me paint.

Let alone something that wasn’t a canvas.

I’m sure you all know who Misha is, ( especially if you keep up with my blog ) Misha is my bestfriend and photographer, and lately her current projects have included working with Derrick Clarke in making music videos. Now, she’s currently working on something a little different with video director Steve.

I haven’t painted , excuse me spray painted inthe longest time. It was actually when I painted next to Jasmine’s mural. Almost two years in June.

Not only was I excited, I was a little nervous.

I know I was rusty… let’s just hope I dont’ mess up, especially while it’s being recorded,

Of course I gave her some purple and orange hair.

Q is definitely not a photographer, so I was giving him a few pointers to catch the shot in the best way possible.

Like this one for instance, I told him to get all the way on the floor and capture the shot with the cans peeking through.

He got it just right.

Potluck Dinner

I was excited for the Potluck Dinner I was throwing, I got to see great friends and family, and not to mention the fact that I had awesome food and drinks in the process.

Q and I cleaned like crazy before everyone arrived. Even though there wasn’t much to clean, sometimes I just like to be bossy and make him work. But shhhhh..don’t tell him anything.

There really isn’t much to say except for I believe everybody had fun, hell I know many had fun. And these pics pretty much help you guys get an idea of the craziness I had to deal with that night. Though it may look simple now, I promise you with Tiana in the picture, it was all worth while.

When I invited everyone the rules were pretty simple, either bring a dish or bring a bottle. I made beef and rice with beans, Misha brought macaroni salad, Steph made bbq ribs, there was ALOT of chicken of many different kinds from rotisserie to fried, Jen brought two massive dishes of rice, one white one yellow, salad. We had 5 gallon jugs of wine, 3 bottles of vodka, whiskey, ciroc, heinekens and pina coladas. Whew, that was a lot to type!

I’m sure I missed a bunch of it too.

Everyone, which was mostly everybody didn’t really know each other and this was their first time meeting the other. So I thought it was great, we all got to meet new people and network. make plans for the summer and talk about upcoming projects.I’m so glad A and Jen came down from Connecticut to come and spend some time with me.

They mean the world to me and I don’t even think they know it.

I finally got to hang out with Obby and his girl Janna. Obby is awesome, and I hope we get to hang out more often this summer. Ever since I stopped working at Bergdorf Goodman I’ve just been drifting off everywhere.

Judy brought some Moscato which was gone in like 15 minutes, and I got to see Jessica, who’s a total sweetheart and I met while working at Armani Exchange.

Oli is the cutest thing ever and Sara is one the smartest women I know. I’ve known these girls since my days in Art and Design High School way back when, how quickly time flies.

I made sure everyone always a drink in their hand, keep the laughter coming.

Crystal is a freaking doll, I’ve known her since I was in middle school and we used to hang out after class, especially during the summer when we will hit up the pool with her mom. I only get to see her a few times each year bc she’s busy traveling almost everywhere and she just finished getting her degree, I’m so proud of her!

    I was so happy when my godfather showed up and I have to say it was one of the biggest surprises of the night. I’m so grateful he passed by, let alone with beers. Love you Tio!

My baby cousin Raymond, though he’s’ not much of a baby anymore. ♥

Stephy and Jay,though I haven’t knownthem for long, I’m sure we’re gonan have a lot of good times ahead of us and I know this night was no exception.

This is when all the ratchetness began. I’m not even sure that’s a word, but I just used it as a verb.

  That’s me getting some love from Jen, she’s just about the best mother figure I have ever seen. My niece and nephew are so lucky.

I caught A and Obby dancing, acting like fools… this is officially my blackmail picture.

Not sure how well that will work though, since I’m already showing you guys.

Tiana was a trip and having Stephy in the mix , well it was definitely interesting.It was a good night, with good friends, with good food, and good drinks.

I definitely cannot complain.

Birthday at the Office

After Q left, after that wonderful and tasty and surprise at 12am, I hit the sack. It’s still a work week and that’s exactly where I was headed to in the morning.

I’m not a huge of birthdays due to the fact that I feel many people just say “Happy Birthday” to be polite. That’s why my Facebook and all my other everything’s never have my  birthday on them.

If you remember, I’m grateful. If you don’t it’s okay, life would go on.

I got to work and I knew off the bat that I was sharing a birthday with one of my new coworkers Dahiana.

I’ve only been here for 3 weeks and counting and everyone seems so nice and down to earth. I especially get along with all the ladies and Shanna was no exception. She is the most sweetest and most inviting woman I have yet to meet. Earlier during the week she was picking on me, telling  me my birthday is coming up, and I kept telling her it’s just another day.

If anything, everyday should be everyone’s birthday. We should all be nice to each other all the time, not just on the anniversary of the day you were born.

Once I walked into work I notice a yellow post it on my keyboard with the words

” You’re Special, today and always”

I thought it was so cute and ran over to her and gave her a hug.

Once I got back from my lunchbreak, I found these adorable stationary sets on my desk.

Ah, I fell in love and ran up to Shanna for another hug.

Hmmm… wait until I surprise her back, no birthday needed.

Coooookies

It was officially 12am and I hear a knock at my door. I’m as comfy as can be, pajamas on, no makeup, looking a straight  up mess.

Apparently my lover boy Q decided to be a sweetheart and surprise me with home baked cookies and a love letter.

And my home baked, I mean baked in his house, by him.

Oh yeah.

He tells me happy birthday and I read my  letter… I’ll keep that one to myself thank you very much. But the gist of it was simple enough, he loves me.

He goes on to tell me the process of his craziness. Not only was he in a rush with time, but the first batch which was meant to be a cake, was a failure. He sniffs around, when the cake is almost done and notices that the smell is peanut butter.

I HATE PEANUT BUTTER

So he ends up throwing that out and starting all over all while being rushed so he can take a two hour train ride to me and get here by12.

Now that’s an awwwwww moment.

I’m so lucky.

New Artwork: Floater

Here is my newest  artwork titled  ”Floater”

This piece is definitely a little something different than you guys are used to, coming from me at least. I decided not to focus as much on the curves of her hips, but more on her collarbones,  her exaggerated lips and squinted eyes.

 I really love how her lips came out, if you look closely you can see the darker stripes in her pout, it’s almost as if you want to hand her some chapstick. I wanted her nose to be tiny and awkward and though I’m mostly known for the cat eyes, which she does have, I wanted her be squinting, happily, with force.

She reminds me of a balloon that you let go and all it manages to do is flap around in the sky.

 I guess that why I named her Floater.

Update on my Apartment 

Hi guys, lately I’ve been putting in work to my apartment. I’ve only been here for going on six months now, I have so much work to do. So many plans and ideas, and I hope everything comes together in person like I see it in my head. You can follow the process by clicking on Home Editions.

The living room: 

I recently just painted one of my living room walls purple, added hints of orange and of course I had to add my canvases into the mix.

Look at Q lost in his own world. ♥

I fell in love with an orange chevron table cloth which I haven’t purchased yet, so I settled for one of those crappy party store plastic ones for the time being … especially since I was having company come over the next day.

I’m a huge fan of mirrors and candles,so you will definitely seeing a lot of those. Look at my princess Jasmine hanging out by the bar though♥, and I added some candles on my tiny..really tiny window still to give it a touch of pretty with colored stain glass.

Moving on to the bedroom:

One of my biggest problems while living in my mother’s house was that I was a total pig. Absolutely everything will end up on the floor, on the bed, drawers were never closed.. and I’m pretty sure if the walls weren’t vertical, they would have crap all over them too.

I was stuck in a too small room in the attic, with ceilings that dropped low, I always hit my head. I had no closet and no space for anything. Which resulted in my mess making skills. It also didn’t help that as an artistic, we don’t care to be the neatest people.

Though in my new room I still have no closet, I told myself I would always make sure you could still be able to see the floor. Though I still have my messy moments, while rushing to work getting dressed, it has NEVER been to the extent of how I used to live before.

I told myself this, If it has a home, there’s no reason it should be out of place. I try my best to live up to that. Again, no closet…so all of my belongings seem to be overwhelming at times. I’m sure I’ll come up with better storage solutions as time progresses. But for now, I have managed to have two bookshelves to contain my shoes and t- shirts.

The black dresser has all my jeans/pants… ( and one drawer for Q )

I try to keep my bags off of the floor, ( old Spanish superstition, purse on the floor, you’ll never have money ) I have my coats and long dresses on a garment rack and my desk, which I’m sure will be temporary.

My homemade desk, I ended up merging together my vanity and the glass top of a coffee table Misha gave to me. I needed that desk badly!

On the other side of the room, I have my art stash… I never really find anything that can hold all my random art supplies. Especially when it comes to different sized canvases, all my paint etc. So this entertainment center fit the bill for the moment. I ended up removing two of the shelves in the center to make some space.

Peep my wine glass on the floor though, I was doing my hair… and also check out the throwback picture of me and my brother in the glass case. You can’t see it too clearly, but I promise you, there’s a tooth missing in that smile somewhere.

So that’s it for now guys, I know it’s not much, but from how it first looked when I moved in…

I don’t think it’s that bad. Let’s hope it gets better!

Painting in Purple

The before picture.

I know I have this crazy obession with black and white stripes, but lately I’ve been cheating on my print with the orange and purple combo. I don’t know if it has anything to do with my love of Halloween, but I knew I had to mix these two fetishes together.

That, and my favorite color, neon green.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, that seems like a lot of crazy colors and prints to be trying to match together… but there’s nothing you can say to change my mind.

I got out of work and stopped by my local hardware store and picked a purple that seemed really pigmentated. ( Not the one above )

I told him I wanted a dark purple because the wall that I will be painting across from it ( maybe in another week) will be a bright orange and the last thing I want is to look like my apartment belongs in a “My little Pony” commercial.

He asked if I had a lot of lighting since it was such a dark color, but let’s face it, with my midget sized windows I knew her was right.

I picked the purple that was only one shade lighter than my original choice ( I’m so stubborn that way ) he laughed while I picked out my roller brush and other supplies.

I was just excited to get home and start.

I attached the pole exender to the brush to find out 3 seconds and one roll on the wall later that I hated it, off you go.

I put Vandal ( my cat ) in the bathroom ( can’t have paw prints everywhere, he’s a nosy little one )  and blasted some soul music, as loud as I could.

I  was focused.

It took me about three hours. Which I didn’t find that bad, considering that I did it all alone, taped edges and drop cloth taped as well.

I decided to leave the second coat for the next day ( hey, a girl’s gotta pay bills )

Once I left work, I rushed to finished my project.

Don’t mind the mess, but I think I did pretty good. I have so many plans and ideas to go, so this is only the beginning.

I hope you guys are ready for all this home decor stuff. But no worries, I’ll still be posting the basics, my artwork, the crazyness in my life, the random never made it pictures and stupid ratchet videos

A little bunny I was, how quickly time flies. That little bumble bee there is my little brother Kiki. And of course that’s Q with his foolish face while we go shopping for ar supplies at Michael’s. That was the first time he came with me, and he couldn’t resist making fun of me, because I got overly excited about every single thing I managed to find.

Missing Jasmine like crazy, she’s just so damn beautiful!

Being silly with Q, because let’s face it.. if you cant be weird and funny with the one you love, you just suck.

I was commissioned for a tiny gig. literally…. I had so much fun painting on little one’s faces! So cute!

Killing two birds with one stone, it was time to do my roots and spend some quality time with my godson Zj. I missed him sooo much. In the first pic he’s trying to “dye” my hair by coloring it with a crayon…. and in the second pic I wish it was easy to explain, but let’s just say boys will be boys, and these two had way too much fun running around Kat and Zero’s screaming and laughing while they chased each other. ♥

 I’m glad I got to spend that day with Q, while I was headed to get finger printed by the Board of Ed.This was the first time I walked the Brooklyn Bridge, yes. I’m such a horrible New Yorker.

Lionela’s Birthday

My cousin Lionela had a little get together at her house.

And after a long day of work, painting my living room ( pictures coming soon )

ending the night with family laughing was just what a girl needed.

Last time I saw everyone was New Years, and it’s crazy ridiculous how quickly time flies.

My godmother served Q and I some fried chicken and stuffed ricotta cheese raviolis, which were delicious.

As much as I love food, I find almost everything delicious.

I couldn’t arrive empty handed of course, though I didn’t get much of a present,

I knew if I came with a bottle of vodka it’ll make up for it.

Lionela looked so pretty and relaxed, enjoying GJ, who happened to steal the whole night.

Gj was everywhere, looking cute in her colorful skirt, fake sneezing and making everyone laugh, especially when she would go to everyone except my cousin Lidia.

And of course she managed to flirt with Q again =]

We all sang happy birthday of course, until we all laughed at the fact that Sasha started singing

” Is she one? Is she two? Is she three?… etc.

We never got to the last number, I think she quit by age 6!

Happy Birthday Li, I hope you enjoyed yourself ad I wish you many more great times, especially now since you have a beautiful chapter of  motherhood ahead of you.

I of course, had no idea what to wear, but I managed to pull anything together.

Q was a trooper and allowed me to paint his face… well, his eye.

I dragged Diana with me, because I couldn’t bare the fact that she was leaving me in a week, off to the army she goes.

I’m so proud of her, but I know I’m going to miss her terribly.

Kash looked so pretty, mustache and all. ( Bearded lady ) Every time she kissed Richie I couldn’t help but laugh.

Chevy looked adorable, but her parents for me took the cake.

They were absolutely to die for!

I watched this movie with Q last night, and without a doubt, this was my favorite scene….let’s not count thte fact that I’ve watched it like 4 times already with vodka in my system before updating this post. I’m literally crying in tears…just don’t be surprised when in normal convrsation I ask you if you ready for this DDDDDDIIIICCCCCKKK!
